ColorBlast for Starlite
Starlite Productions recently enhanced its lighting rental department by taking delivery of Color Kinetics’ ColorBlast 12 fixtures. ColorBlast 12 is a stylish, compact wall-washing light that generates rich, uniform colors and color changing effects.
With a variety of color and housing options available, Starlite has chosen fixtures with a black housing and a soft-focus lens, producing a soft-edge 23º beam of light.
“We’re extremely happy with the ColorBlasts. They’re very bright, the units are low-profile, and you can’t beat the power consumption,” comments Jason Danowitz, Starlite’s lighting production manager.
The ColorBlast 12 can be controlled by a Color Kinetics controller or a third-party controller. “We chose City Theatrical’s power supplies because they make the units extremely easy to address, they’re built to withstand the rigors of touring and the built-in color functions have proven to be very useful,” explains Danowitz.
City Theatrical's PDS-375TR and PDS-750TR are touring-style power/data supplies for Color Kinetics ColorBlast intelligent solid-state lighting fixtures. The PDS-750TR allows easy connection and disconnection of up to 12 ColorBlast 12 fixtures, fixtures by means of industry-standard 4 pin XLR connectors while the PDS-375TR is a six-circuit version of the PDS-750TR. Both include a "mini-Zapi" function, which enables users to address all fixtures plugged into the power/data supply to channel one, thereby allowing a starting DMX channel to be set via standard BCD switches.
