In addition to supporting the Cree XLamp® MC-E LEDs already announced, Carclo has developed a new range of standard 26.5mm optics that extends support to the following multi-chip LED light sources:
• Osram Ostar
• Seoul Semiconductor P5-II and Acriche 2W
• LedEngin 3, 5 & 10W
• Lamina Atlas
• Luminus PhlatLight
• PerkinElmer ACULED

These new optics are available immediately in standard 26.5mm diameter sizes, in both a clear and a frosted finish. This new range of optics features a clear narrow beam for maximum luminous spot intensity, elliptical and elliptical orthogonal “line” optics, as well as Carclo-exclusive frosted optics in narrow, medium, and wide beams. Carclo’s unique frosted optics are not only highly efficient, but also provide high intensity beams free from the shadows, hot spots, and die imaging that are often a problem when designing with large, multi-chip LED light sources.

Ian Bryant, Business Development Manager for Carclo’s UK optics business, said: “Carclo is delighted to provide optical support to such a wide range of multi-chip LEDs, the development of which has been accelerating during the past year. These very powerful yet compact light sources are destined to play an important role in the LED lighting revolution that we at Carclo are proud to have been a part of since its inception.” Jim O’Connor, Business Development Manager for Carclo USA added: “Carclo’s new range of specially designed and engineered optics for many of the most popular multi-chip LEDs nicely complements our existing products for single die LEDs. These optics are a further indication of Carclo’s firm commitment to support LED light sources of all kinds. We especially believe that our Carclo-exclusive frosted optics will provide the kind of performance that will allow these multi-chip LEDs to be rapidly incorporated into new and exciting designs for LED light engines and solid state lighting fixtures.”
