MUTEC 2026: Light as a precision tool and world premiere for IDIA
At MUTEC 2026, Zumtobel will be presenting lighting solutions under the guiding theme of "Light as a precision tool" that can be used to precisely stage objects and avoid light-related damage to exhibits. In addition, the company will be celebrating the world premiere of its new IDIA luminaire in Hall 4, Stand G22.

This was originally developed for the Cathedral of Santa Maria Nuova in Monreale, Italy, and is predestined for the lighting of sensitive historic interiors. The exhibition is rounded off by special solutions for sensors that detect visitor flows, adapt the light to the environment and reduce power consumption. At the lecture "The Bilbao Effect 2.0." by Tobias Jonk, Application Manager ART & Culture at Zumtobel Lighting GmbH, visitors will also learn how a project luminaire in a museum has triggered a wave of change. The lecture will take place on Friday, November 6, 2026, from 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. in Hall 4, G10.
As a special highlight, Zumtobel will be presenting the VIVO II ART spotlight family in Leipzig. This makes art an authetic experience with the highest colour fidelity. The portfolio includes accent, wallwasher and framer solutions. Another highlight is a Wallwasher attachment for the ARCOS Zoomfocus 3Ph track spotlights in sizes M and L. This completes the product family. With ARCOS Zoomfocus , not only can objects be staged in a targeted manner and without light spill, but wall surfaces can also be illuminated homogeneously.
Special solutions, including a framer for the multi-functional lighting system SUPERSYSTEM II, as well as two sensors for a smart lighting control system, complete the range: A PIR sensor (passive infrared) reacts to movement and brightness and makes it possible to adapt the lighting to the presence of people as well as to daylight. A sensor equipped with thermal imaging technology, captures how the audience uses different areas and supports the creation of heat maps. For example, it can be used to record visitor flows, automatically activate lighting scenes and achieve energy savings in little-used areas.
Another special feature at the trade fair is the luminaire IDIA from the The Editions series. This was originally developed for the Cathedral of Santa Maria Nuova in Monreale, Sicily, where it showcases the beauty of the UNESCO-listed gold-ground mosaics. A central unit challenge of the project was to highlight the brilliance and legibility of the mosaics while preserving the historic building fabric. Only a few mounting positions on cornices and window reveals were available. IDIA now enables the precise illumination of mosaics and architectural elements, ensuring a balanced combination of highly precise, uniform and glare-free light distribution. IDIA is designed for the illumination of large surfaces. It provides precise lighting, but remains discreetly in the background. Developed for particularly demanding historical environments, IDIA combines an exceptionally high light output with an extremely compact design. IDIA offers powerful and unobtrusive lighting for sensitive historic interiors.
And of course, proven solutions such as the CIELUMA illuminated ceiling can also be seen at the trade fair stand. CIELUMA becomes a harmonious part of the sequence by combining lighting design and acoustics.
