Why is LightingEurope issuing a public statement on RoHS?

LightingEurope staff and members regularly receive requests for clarification regarding the timeline of the RoHS-related lamp phase-outs. Last autumn, LightingEurope issued a public statement concerning the changes to the Mercury Regulation. The organization now aims to shift focus to the upcoming RoHS exemption renewals.

Objectives of the statement:

  • To emphasize and clarify for the market how RoHS expiry dates are applied
  • To provide details on the expiration of certain exemptions and outline LightingEurope’s renewal plans
  • To address the status of lead exemptions alongside mercury exemptions
